The line of storms, which extends from near Piedmont, to Gadsden, to Cullman, to Double Springs at 6 pm, is not moving too fast, especially on the western end. There is really no northerly flow anywhere in the atmosphere to push them south, except for the cool outflow the storms are producing themselves. The slow movement may produce some flash flooding problems, with radar indicating 1-2″ of rain in some areas already.

Expect the storms to make it into Heflin, Anniston, Odenville, the northern suburbs of BHM, and Jasper by 7 pm. Unless something changes, it still looks like you have an hour or two of dry weather in Shelby county and Tuscaloosa County.
