Maybe not quite as much.
Latest position report on the main cluster of thunderstorms is mostly across Walker County and SE Fayette County.
Lots of lightning and thunder along with heavy rain draped across Walker County including places like Jasper, Oakman, Cordova and moving into Sumiton near the Walker-Jefferson County line. It is also raining very heavily in the Berry area of SE Fayette County.
Back behind this main cluster of storms, it is still raining heavily over Lawrence and NW Winston County.
Overall, the family of thunderstorms has decreased some in coverage. Lightning activity has also decreased some but still plenty enough to awaken you as the storms get closer.
These thunderstorms and heavy rain will be spreading into the NW sections of Jefferson County soon. We may be getting some active storms in the immediate Birmingham area before 5 am. Looks like a wet rush hour for at least part of the Metro area.
Updated rain report from Bear Creek in NE Marion County, now 2.40 inches. Great reports from there all night. Can’t thank the 3340 Skywatchers enough!
