That long line of showers and thunderstorms has been on the road all night trying to get from Arkansas to Alabama. The storms have grown tired and are not as ambitious as they were earlier in the night. At 9:00 a.m., the broad line of showers and some thunderstorms extended from NE Alabama near Ft. Payne and Centre southwestward to Oneonta, Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Aliceville and then into Central Mississippi.
Only thing about it, the central part of the line that is moving across Jefferson County and the Birmingham area has broken in two and we are not getting very much rain at all in the metro area. The better rain amounts are over NE Alabama and also in Southern Pickens County on the west side of the state.
Almost no lightning in Alabama at this time. By far, the stronger thunderstorms were across Central Mississippi where rain was locally heavy and there was considerable lightning. We will probably have redevelopment to our NW later today.
