NWS/Birmingham has extended the Significant Weather Alert for Etowah and St. Clair Counties until 2:45.

Around 2:00, a strong thunderstorm was near Steele which is in the north edge of St. Clair County. That is also about 5 miles SW of Rainbow City. It was moving NE at 15.

This storm could produce pea-size hail and wind gusts to about 40 as it moves toward Gadsden Airport, Attalla, the city of Gadsden and the beautiful Noccalulu Falls.

Elsewhere some more showers were forming over East and SE Jefferson County southward into Coosa County.

However, at least the NW third of the state was free of showers. This included places like Scottsboro, Guntersville, Cullman, Jasper, Tuscaloosa and areas westward.
