Scattered showers and thundertorms were developing earlier today than they did yesterday. At 11:00 a.m., across the north half of the state they were widely scattered. The heavier ones were near Athens in Limestone County near the Tennessee border.
The showers were a little bit more numerous over West/Central Alabama from Hale and Greene Counties down to Clarke County. However, they were small and not very heavy. Showers a bit more numerous over South/Central Alabama from Lowndes County down to near Andalusia and Brewton close to the Florida border.
Almost all of the showers were moving north, but ever so slowly. As they increase in number and size this afternoon, the very slow movement will give them time to give some communities almost too much rain while others, even nearby, get little or none. Some of the storms could become strong this afternoon. We will watch that closely.
