Scattered showers and thunderstorms continue to develop across the state and they were moving toward the north ever so slowly.
Over the north half of the state, one of the stronger ones was over Limestone County adjacent to the Tennessee border. NWS/Huntsville posted a Significant Weather Alert for that county until 12:30.
Around the rest of the state, some of the most active lightning was over Lowndes County and that is where some of the stronger thunderstorms were down south. Doppler radar in Montgomery estimates that as much as 1 inch of rain has fallen in a few communities from Lowndes County southward to near Andalusia.
BIRMINGHAM METRO AREA
Scattered, mostly light, showers were developing across Jefferson and Walker Counties and some slightly heavier ones on I-20 in NW Talladega County. There was a moderate thunderstorm over extreme North Perry County near the Bibb County line. All of these were moving slowly northward.
They will continue to increase in number as the aftenroon goes on and last well into the evening. Some of the showers and storms may still be ongoing until 10:00 p.m.
