Expect a good supply of sunshine today with an afternoon high at or just over 80 degrees as dry pattern continues. A vigorous storm lifting out of the Rockies is headed toward Canada, and won’t impact us.
OUR WEEKEND: Mostly sunny warm days, fair pleasant nights tomorrow and Sunday. No moisture means no rain. And, we stay dry into early next week on Monday and Tuesday.
NEXT CHANCE OF RAIN: The GFS hints that showers will return to Alabama late Wednesday or Wednesday night of next week with a cold front. Dynamic support is weakening, and moisture is limited, so rain probably won’t be all that heavy. We also note the ECWMF is slower, and holds off the showers until Thursday. Colder air will follow at the end of next week; see the Weather Xtreme video for the maps, graphics, and details.
FOOTBALL WEATHER: No rain problems for high school football again this week; a clear sky tonight with temperatures falling through the 60s during the games.
Auburn hosts Western Carolina tomorrow at 1:00; the sky will be mostly sunny with a kickoff temperature near 80 degrees; low 80s are possible by halftime. Alabama is on the road; they will visit the Kentucky Wildcats tomorrow evening (6:00p CT kickoff)… the sky will be clear. About 68 degrees at kickoff; 50s are likely by the final whistle.
The weather will also cooperate for Jacksonville State’s homecoming game against Tennessee State tomorrow (3p CT kickoff)… lots of sun with 81 degrees at kickoff; temperatures will fall into the 70s during the second half.
GULF COAST WEATHER: Perfect weather through Sunday with sunny warm days and fair cool nights from Panama City to Gulf Shores. Highs in the low 80s; lows in the 60s. Should be hard to find a decent cloud in the sky this weekend during the National Shrimp Festival at Gulf Shores. The sea water temperature this morning at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab is 75 degrees.
TROPICS: The disturbance over the East Atlantic remains disorganized. On the other side of the planet, Cyclone Phailin is headed for the southeast coast of India; it is the equivalent of a category 4/5 hurricane, and could produce catastrophic damage and loss of life when it moves inland in about 24-36 hours. See the Weather Xtreme video for a look at this big storm.
