A very wet summer relieved all of Alabama’s drought conditions. Many areas continue to have an abundance of rainfall for the year, but as we headed through the fall months, we have started to dry out. October is statistically the driest month and this year was no exception. Most areas across the state averaged less than an inch of rain over the last month. This has allowed Alabama to begin to dry out and several areas have been outlined in abnormally dry conditions.

The graphic below is the latest drought conditions across the state. It is abnormally dry across north-central Alabama, as well as potions of East Alabama and southwestern portions of the state. These conditions are not expected to last as we begin to head towards the winter months, which can be our wettest months.
