TROPICAL STORM BERTHA
Latest position report: Latitude 14.9N, Longitude 29.7W or about 385 miles west of the Cape Verde Islands. (Still way out in the Eastern Atlantic.) Moving WNW 16 and should continue that for the next couple of days. Highest sustained winds 50 mph. Not expected to change much next 24 hours but possibly growing a little stronger after that.
SEVERE WEATHER
For the first time in a long while, only a small part of the USA under a “slight risk” for the next 24 hours. The north panhandle of Idaho and the NW Half of Montana. This does not mean that a few isolated severe will not occur in other places.
MORNING WEATHER MAP
A long stalled front, crooked as a snake, extends along the Denver-Amarillo-Oklahoma City-Cincinnati-New York City line.
LITTLE MISS MOLLY
That little 9-pound girl is still fast asleep at 10:25 am. Absolutely amazing. She must sense that this is “fireworks night” and she may be trying to store extra sleep ahead of what has to be a very nervous night for thousands of pets.
FIRE WORKS TIME
As it gets closer to that time this evening and tonight, we will try to post some extra information about if and where the showers or thunderstorms are located and projected movement. Good chance that many locations can get through that time dry.
