A very dangerous situation is unfolding across the Midwest and Great Lakes today. The beginning of a severe weather outbreak across the region is ongoing. Earlier this morning, a Particular Dangerous Situation tornado watch was issued from St. Louis to Milwaukee. The SPC has just issued a second PDS watch for portions of western Ohio and much of Indiana and the Lower Peninsula of Michigan.
This watch is in effect until 8 PM Eastern Time and includes Detroit, Indianapolis, and Cincinnati. Within this watch area, widespread severe weather is expected to develop and that includes some large, long-track tornadoes. We are already seeing severe cells to the west of area and these storms will expand eastward throughout the day.
