This report is from Mike Wilhelm, the 33/40 Skywatcher for Vinemont, in North Cullman County. However he was in the Huntsville area for this observation:

J.B. You are right about the East Madison County storm. My boys and I were playing baseball at the foot of Monte Sano between 5 and 7. We watched the cumulonimbus develop then. The storm has been drifting east slowly and back building for several hours. The net effect is that it has been stationary producing an amazing light show just east of Monte Sano. My son Joe pointed out that God’s fireworks are more amazing than man’s.

Gurley must be getting pounded. They must have had several inches of rain. I wonder if there is a CoCoRaHs observer or Coop Observer over there. Gibson Ridge shows over 8 inches in Gurley!

Another report from Rick in Hackleburg at 9:12 pm: Heavy rain, intense lightning and strong winds. At 9:18 pm he added, “We need a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Marion County–it is rough up here.”
