A clear sky and calm winds will allow for temperatures to drop rapidly tonight. Already seeing temps this evening at or below freezing across the northern third of the state. Even in Birmingham the current temperature is approaching the freezing mark. It is going to be a very cold night, as it remains clear and dry. No issues with weather as we head towards Christmas morning.
Looking at the forecast temps for 6 AM Christmas morning, the NAM shows another very cold morning for Alabama and much of the Southeast. All locations in Alabama are on their way to the 20s for overnight lows. Lower 20s are expected in Central Alabama and even upper 20s will make it to the Gulf Coast. We could even see a few teens in some of those colder spots across northern Alabama.
After the very cold start, we will once again see full sunshine tomorrow, which will allow us to warm into the upper 40s across Central Alabama. The weather for Christmas Day will be great as sunny, bright, and dry weather will continue.
