Strongest storms in Alabama at 3:45 were over the Extreme NW. A group of storms (sort of a line) extends from Florence to Decatur.
NWS/Huntsville issued a Significant Weather Alert for Lawrence and Limestone County until 4:15 pm. It was based on a strong thunderstorm 9 miles SW of Athens moving NE at 11. May produce gusts to 50 with lots of cloud to ground lightning. This storm will also affect:
Ripley
Tanner
Athens
Across North Central and Central Alabama showers and storms were scarce. However a zone of showers and thunderstorms extended from NE Walker County eastward along the Jefferson/Blount County line to Etowah and South Cherokee County in NE Alabama. Some spots getting locally heavy rain.
Everything moving east.
Look for an increase in showers and thunderstorms over the next couple of days, especially tomorrow.
