Scattered thunderstorms continue over North Alabama late this afternoon, mostly from about Jefferson, Blount and St. Clair County northward.
A small but very noisy thunderstorm dumped very heavy rain mainly in the Clay area of NE Jefferson County. I was “out in it” on a round trip from Trussville to Clay and visibility was down to about 1/8th of a mile for a time. The heaviest rain was on the west half of Deerfoot and moreso near the intersection of Deerfoot and Old Springville Road.
That storm has now diminished a little as it moved into West St. Clair.
Another storm over NW Jefferson County.
However, the strongest storms of all were Madison and Limestone County in the extreme north. The Limestone County EMA office reported flash flooding with water 7 inches deep on Shaw Road in Athens.
* Late info. NWS Huntsville has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Limestone County until 7:45 pm. James Payton, a 33/40 Skywatcher in Huntsville (part way up Mt. Sano) reports visibility about 1/8th mile in a downpour with gusts to about 40.
Everything moving eastward, maybe a little south of due east.
