The ABC 33/40 Skywatcher in Vigo (east of Piedmont) has been consistently missing out getting showers and thunderstorms. He reported needing rain badly.
Last night, his community was doused with 0.95 of an inch of rain in a short time. This afternoon, Vigo got another drenching with 0.90 in a little less than 30 minutes. That is 1.85 inches in less than 24 hours.
Showers and storms were rather numerous across North Central Alabama at mid-afternoon with the strongest ones from Calhoun and Talladega County eastward into West Georgia.
However, to our west, we are watching closely East Central Mississippi where several counties are under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning, including the Columbus area. Some of those storms will cross the Alabama border soon, mainly into North Pickens County.
