Strong thunderstorms continue marching almost directly eastward across North/Central Alabama. We have a recent report of power lines down in the Gallant community in Etowah County as reported by the EMA.

Thunderstorms were also strong from Eastern St. Clair County and SE Etowah County down across Calhoun County into Clay County.

Further westward, a narrow band of strong thunderstorms extended from the north tip of Tuscaloosa County across the south edge of Walker County into West and NW Jefferson County. These strong storms were headed toward Birmingport, Mulga, Adamsville and Fultondale. Lots of lightning, strong gusty winds and very heavy rain.

Thunderstorms over extreme West Alabama in Pickens County have weakened. However, some very strong thunderstorms were passing south of Columbus, Mississippi and headed toward the south part of Alabama’s Pickens County.

Strangely enough, virtually no thunderstorms have occurred this afternoon across the Tennessee Valley and in most areas from Cullman northward and also not many over the south half of the state. Some storms over SW Tennessee and extreme North Mississippi will affect Alabama’s Tennessee Valley later.

These storms will not die down until late tonight, so we may have another brilliant lightning show after dark.
