A long east-west line of thunderstorms continues to push southward slowly through South Central Alabama.
On second thought, maybe we can describe it better by calling it a zone or irregular line of storms.
Doesn’t matter because the end result is the same. The line (or zone) extends from Livingston and Demopolis on the west side, eastward to Prattville, Montgomery and Tuskegee.
Many of these thunderstorms were dumping very heavy rain, strong gusty winds, and overloaded with lightning.
I do not remember a year when as many houses and other structures have been struck by lightning in Alabama, although we have not heard of any this afternoon. Lightning is frightening.
Rain has been so heavy over SW Autauga County that the NWS issued a Flood Advisory until 9:15 tonight. Over two inches already in the area.
North of that main action was some individual thunderstorms that were a bit noisy. They were located:
* NE Greene County
* Shelby County, near Westover (a small one)
* SE Calhoun County, NE of Anniston
* Along the Lamar-Fayette County line (this one moderate)
In the Upstate Counties where several warnings were issued this afternoon, most of the thunderstorms have self-destructed.
