Just before noon, the NWS in Huntsville was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Fort Payne. It was nearly stationary.

Which means it could dump very heavy rain over relatively a small area.

NWS issued a Significant Weather Alert for the storm advising that it could produce hail 1/2 inch in diameter and winds up to 40. The alert is until 12:30 pm. Communities in or near the path of this storm:

Valley Head (for many years they held the all time low for Alabama-18.)
Adamsburg
Fort Payne (one of my favorite cities in the state)
