For the third day in a row, some of the first thunderstorms over North Alabama developed in the Ft. Payne/Scottsboro area in the extreme NE.

Already the storm in Jackson County had grown strong enough for the NWS in Huntsville to post a Significant Weather Alert for Jackson County until 2:15. The strong thunderstorm was 10 miles SW of Bridgeport moving SE at 15. Small hail and winds up to 40 can be expected as it moves toward Stebenson, Faubis, Pisgah and Flat Rock. This storm could grow even stronger and could later prompt a warning. They have had a habit of doing that the last several days.

Another thunderstorm was over the SW part of DeKalb County SW of Ft. Payne. Others were forming around Decatur. The storms today show more distinct movement. They are moving generally toward the NE. Yesterday they were fooling around and not moving much.

Meanwhile, down south, another cluster of showers and thunderstorms were developing over Central Alabama in places like Chilton, Autauga, Dallas, Perry and Montgomery Counties. Those, too, were moving NE.
