* Unable to obtain any hourly reports at 4 am, CDT, from Haiti. Not many stations are usually available.

* We will be able to obtain spot reports from Cuba, the Bahamas, and of course Florida down the road.

LATEST OFFICIAL TRACK FORECAST (ISSUED 4 AM ALABAMA TIME)
No big changes:

1. After leaving Haiti she should skirt the south coast of Cuba.
2. Turns more NW and crosses Western Cuba as a hurricane.
3. Then continues NW and NNW just off the west coast of Florida Tuesday and Tuesday night, still as a hurricane.
4. Landfall NW Florida south of Tallahassee and then to near Columbus, Ga., by 2 am Thursday

A HUGE, HUGE NOTE OF CAUTION
Large errors are common in a track forecast that far ahead and can be as much as several hundred miles. So don’t take it to the bank especially the part more extended in time. I believe it was James that cautioned yesterday to not put a great deal of trust i the projected track until after it gets west of Haiti and back over open water.

Interesting days ahead. I am headed back to the big bed for some additional shut-eye. Look for lots of posts over the weekend both tropical-related and “regular” Alabama weather.
