I sure hope you were one of the lucky ones that received some beneficial rain yesterday since the pattern looks really dry for the next 10 to 15 days. While Birmingham measured almost two inches of rain, we have to remember that much of East and Central Alabama barely had enough rain to measure.
Today will be a very nice spring day with ample sunshine and a high in the mid 70s. To the west, we will watch the impulse over the Great Plains; that will rotate through the Tennessee Valley tomorrow. That feature will bring some clouds, and maybe even a few isolated showers over North Alabama. The best chance of a shower will be north of I-20, and even there the showers will probably be few and far between. The chance of a shower around the Talladega Superspeedway is only about one in ten tomorrow.
Sunday will feature bright sunshine and a high in the upper 70s, a great day for the running of the Aarons 499 at Talladega.
NEXT WEEK: At this point most of next week looks warm and dry with daily highs in the low to mid 80s as we begin the month of May. The primary storm track will be well to the north of Alabama, and quite frankly that pretty much is the story all the way to the end of the medium range guidance period on May 12. There might be a few scattered afternoon showers or storms on a day or two, but the hope of widespread rain does not look good at this point.
