If you are headed to the mountains of East Tennessee or Western North Carolina, you might want to take some extra warm clothing.

Around Gatlinburg and Cades Cove, it will become increasingly windy Thursday with a few snow showers and high temperatures only 25 to 35. The wind chill will be much lower. Thursday night will be even colder with lows 5 to 15 but the wind chill will drop as low as 10 below zero!

In Western North Carolina, including Asheville, Thursday will be windy and cold with highs about 38 but with NW winds gusting as high as 40 mph in the afternoon. Thursday night will be very cold with lows 14 to 19. However, winds will increase and gust as high as 50 mph. This will drag the old wind chill down to about zero or slightly below.

Improving weather for the weekend with highs about 45 Saturday and around 52 Sunday.
