* Still a possible tornado near Parrish and near Cordova in Walker County moving east rapidly at 55 mph. The Tornado Warning continues for Walker County until 4:30 and it may have to be extended.
* NWS has issued a Special Weather Statement for Bibb, Dallas, Green, Hale, Jefferson, Marengo, Perry, Shelby, Sumter and Tuscaloosa Counties until 5:00 a.m.
This is short of a Severe Thunderstorm Warning, but it indicates some strong winds and some extremely heavy rain and dangerous lightning.
* At 4:30, radar indicated that the long line of thunderstorms that had pestered Mississippi so much during the night was now mostly in Alabama. The line extended from Eastern Winston County southward through Walker County and East Tuscaloosa County down to near Moundville in Hale County and all the way into SW Alabama. The thunderstorms in the line were moving east and NE. The line itself is advancing generally eastward at a faster pace than it was earlier.
* The Tornado Watch continues until 9:00 a.m. for a number of counties in North and Central Alabama including all of the greater Birmiingham area.
* A Flash Flood Watch continues until 11:00 a.m. Places like the Birmingham area could get 1 to 2 inches of rain before the storms taper off. We could have some flooding issues during morning drive.
* We still think our biggest severe weather threat is going to be Friday afternoon and Friday night. It could possibly be a significant threat.
Stay tuned.
