Our weather won’t change all that much tomorrow; a partly sunny sky with an afternoon high in the low 70s. Tomorrow should be the 8th day in a row with no rain for most of the state.
THE WEEKEND: The 12Z GFS brings a short wave across on Saturday, which might bring a few showers Saturday afternoon and Saturday night. I still don’t think this is a major rain producer with only limited low level moisture and weak upper air dynamics. Looks like the best chance of a shower will come from about 12:00 Noon through 12:00 Midnight Saturday. Sunday looks dry as the wave moves on to the east. The mild temperatures will stick around over the weekend; looks like we will be close to 70 on Saturday, with mid 70s possible by Sunday afternoon.
NEXT WEEK: An upper low will move east from Texas, and each run of the GFS handles that feature a little differently. The latest model run in the house (the 12Z run) hints our best chance of rain will hold off until Wednesday. Then, the upper low opens up into a wave, and weakens as it moves northeast of Alabama. Then, a northern branch system begins to build a long wave upper trough over the eastern half of the nation. The new run continues the idea of a significant late season cold snap for Alabama in the March 16-19 time frame. We should have one or two mornings with sub-freezing temperatures at that time. Then, we warm back up in the March 20-25 time frame as the main storm track shirts northward again.

I really enjoyed being with the first grade today at Concord Elementary… be watching for them on the KIDCAM today at 5:00 on ABC 33/40 News. Also, it was great being with the big crowd at the RealtySouth 10-K Drawing at the Hoover Country Club during the lunch hour. Two people won $10,000… nice!
