Central Alabama is set to enjoy another nice day as we start out this Sunday with a good supply of sunshine, but moisture will be on the increase later today which will transition us into a wet week ahead. There may be enough instability for some thunder at midweek, but at least for now, there does not appear to be a threat for severe weather. Highs today will once again climb into the 60s.
With a trough perched to our west across Texas and north Mexico, the flow aloft will remain out of the southwest which will keep us tapped into Gulf and Pacific moisture. With slight ridging over the Southeast US, we should see temperatures remain in the 60s for highs as morning lows gradually warm into the 50s by midweek. There is not much change in the pattern for the week ahead, so it looks like a wet one with rainfall amounts over the next five days running in 2 to 4 inch range as the trough to our west continues to pump out small disturbances to keep us wet. It won’t rain all the time but we will be seeing off and on wet periods.
The wet weather pattern should come to an end late in next weekend as a strong trough moves across the Great Lakes and finally brings an end to the trough over Texas. The GFS suggests a return to a somewhat colder pattern once again as we head out into voodoo country with a trough over the eastern half of the country.

I had a great time visiting with amateur radio operators at the Birmingham Hamfest yesterday. The Hamfest continues today if you did not have a chance to get out there. James Spann will be back with the next edition of the Weather Xtreme Video first thing on Monday morning. Godspeed.
