There is a welcome break now from heavy rain over NW Alabama. In fact, it has practically ended, at least for now.
At 3 am, there was almost no rain from Tuscaloosa to Birmingham, gadsden and Huntsville northward to the Tennessee border.
An irregular band of moderate to heavy showers extended from SW Alabama, northeastward to north of Montgomery and into the East Alabama counties of Tallapoosa, Chambers and Randolph. There was lighter rain over Talladega and Calhoun County.
Everything is shifting toward the SE and earlier than originally expected. NWS in Huntsville has canceled the
Flash Flood Watch for these North Alabama counties:
Colbert
Cullman
Dekalb
Franklin
Jackson
Lauderedale
Lawrence
Limestone
Madison
Marshall
Morgan
It now appears that Wednesday morning rush hour (or Morning Drive as it is called) for the Birmingham/Tuscaloosa/Gadsden corridor will not be so tough after all as far as weather is concerned. Some patchy fog may develop where there has been so much rain.
