We continue to track a low pressure system over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico this afternoon. It has become better organized today.
The low is moving slowly west northwestward.
An air force reconnaissance plane is investigating the disturbance early this afternoon to see if a tropical depression is forming.
The NHC puts the chance at about 70% of that happening.
The GFS hints that this system could remain near the Mexican coast or over the southwestern Gulf for a few days.
