Here’s the latest…

Areal flood advisories have been issued for Jefferson and Tuscaloosa Counties.

Several roads across Lamar County are flooded tonight because of rainfall tonight and earlier. A flash flood warning continues until 1 a.m. for Lamar County.

Heavy rain continues tonight from Cullman to west of Kimberly to Dora then to north of Tuscaloosa. Heavy rains will be moving through Jefferson and Tuscaloosa Counties over the next two hours. Moderate to heavy rain covers much of West Central and North Central Alabama tonight. It is now entering the I-59 corridor. The NWS has issued a significant weather alert for Jefferson County…with some 40 mph wind gusts expected with the line of showers.

The good news is that it is moving east now at a fairly good clip. As long as it doesn’t stall, we could avoid major problems overnight.

The back end of the rain is definitely moving eastward now, approaching Starkville at this hour.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for Bibb, Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Etowah, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lamar, Marion, Pickens, Randolph, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Talladega, Tuscaloosa, Walker and Winston Counties till 4 p.m. tomorrow afternoon.
