Not much change in our weather over the last few hours. Scattered showers continue in many parts of the state.
It seems that 1/4 inch is the favorite rainfall amount so far today. A number of communities in North and Central Alabama received that amount through early this afternoon.
Not everybody, however. Anniston had received only 0.09 through 1:00 p.m. Birmingham Airport had 0.25, the first rain since the March 1 storms.
The scattered showers will continue this afternoon and tonight. A few places may hear a peal of thunder, but not much. Cooler air will move in late tonight and by morning, temperatures will be in the upper 40s across Central Alabama. The showers should end early Friday followed by afternoon clearing.
In our new forecast this afternoon, we are probably going to use a low of 34 for the low temperature both Saturday and Sunday mornings. This means that some of the outlying areas, especially in the valleys, could have some scattered light frost.
Temperatures will rebound to 70 by Monday afternoon.
The Gulf of Mexico is not having a drought. They do not need any rain, but today most of the heavier rain with this storm system fell off shore across the Northern Gulf.
We do have one good amount to report inland. Scott McClellan, one of our regular blog readers, reports 1.12 inches at Ocean Springs on the Mississippi coast.
