The state is almost equally divided between the haves and have nots as far as rain is concerned this afternoon.

At 2:30 p.m., there were virtually no showers or thunderstorms from Birmingham northward to the Tennessee border. But scattered ones were in progress down south. There were a couple of isolated showers as close to Birmingham as Western Shelby County and near Talladega.

The NWS issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Central Chilton County for a while, but the storms weakened. The largest and strongest thunderstorm at 2:30 was over Elmore County near Wetumpka and just north of the city of Montgomery. Other scattered ones were across the rest of South Alabama. Movement is generally eastward, although the ones in the far SE part of the state were moving more so toward the NE.
