That Severe Thunderstorm Watch continues for a rather wide swath of counties across Central Alabama. Scroll down to an earlier post for a list of the counties.
Tuscaloosa and Birmingham are not in the watch but areas starting just the south are.
A good, just what the drought doctor ordered, old fashioned soaking for a wide part of Central Alabama during the night.
At 3:25 am, a steady widespread rain was from Pickens, Greene and Hale County in West Alabama, ewastward all the way to the Georgia border. Places like Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Clanton, Anniston and Ashland (just to name a few) have had rain for hours in a row.
It was pouring across Hale County and other counties near the south edge of the rain.
Everything was moving ENE. We will post an extensive list of rain amounts later this morning. Surely there will be some 3 inch + amounts.
Thunder can be heard across across the winde band of rain. Lots of folks did not get much sleep.
We call this an “old-fashioned soaking.” Please don’t ask me what a “new-fashioned” soaking is because I don’t know…
Life goes on, wet or dry, sleep or no sleep.
The Severe Thunderstorm Watch continues until 7 am. (Scroll down for the list of counties) However we are having a lull in warnings.
