It is very, very early on this Saturday morning but some showers (and some thunderstorms) were still in progress mainly over the South Central part of the state.
The more widespread showers–along with a few thunderstorms–extended from Sumter and Choctaw County on the west side, eastward to about Selma, Montgomery and Troy. Some of the heavier showers were between Camden and Greenville.
This more widespread rain area was 60 or more miles south of Birmingham and moving toward the ENE. Further south, there were some thunderstorms around Mobile.
Scattered lighter showers were over NW Alabama.
To our west, quite a few showers over Central Mississippi moving toward the ENE.
BIRMINGHAM METRO AREA
There were no significant showers or thunderstorms within about a 50-mile radius of Birmingham at 3:30.
Bill will be posting additional Alabama updates as the day goes on and look for a lot of coverage about Tropical Storm Fay until she is no more.i
