The NWS has issued a Significant Weather Alert for Jefferson County until 6:15. Doppler radar showed a strong thunderstorm in the Pinson/Clay/Chalkville area drifting west. The primary threat is possible flooding on roadways and low-lying areas.

Small hail may also occur and strong gusty winds 35 to 45 mph.

Hail up to 1/2 inch in diameter (dime size) is possible.

Frequent thunder can be heard from my location in NE Trussville and it is very dark toward the east.
