That long awaited cool front that we have discussed for days was pushing into extreme North Alabama early this evening. The dew point has dropped to 60 in Nashville and 62 in Memphis which translates to noticeably lower humidity.
Hardly noticeable in North Alabama yet, however thunderstorms are active south of the front. In Alabama, the main ones shortly after 6 o’clock extended from Walker County eastward across Cullman, Blount, Etowah, DeKalb and Cherokee Counties. The storms were moving generally eastward and some of them contain heavy rain and considerable lightning.
Further south, a small moderate thunderstorm was along the Pickens/Tuscaloosa County line.
It is pouring over SE Alabama and a Flash Flood Warning continues for Pike County. Flooding has been reported at several locations in Pike County late this afternoon.
Showers were also widespread over SW Alabama.
