Broad area of showers/thunderstorms moving steadily eastward through West Alabama.

Leading eastern edge now Decatur-Double Springs-Jasper-West edge Jefferson County-Extreme East Tuscaloosa County-moving into Bibb and Perry County.

Heavy rain and gusty winds.

Lightning return from these storms has decreased greatly.

Birmingham will be wet through the morning rush-hour.

SEVERE WEATHER SITUATION
Tornado Watch for SW Alabama until 11 am.
NWS/SPC has expanded slightly the slight risk area for today. Now extends from about Cullman southward to the coast.

A fresh supply of storms will form later near the cold front still over in West Mississippi. We will have to deal with those later today.

DAMAGE REPORTS AND OTHER NOTES
* Large trees across roads near Collinsville, Lauderdale County, Mississippi (Meridian is in that county)
* Whole trees down SE of Popularville, in South Mississippi, Probably tornado. Storm spotters chasing.
* Westwego, Jefferson Parrish, Louisiana: Heavy damage to structures, mobile homes overturned, possible injuries
* Gusts to 33 mph Downtown Birmingham (Skycam) and 30 mph Tuscaloosa Skycam
