A long band of showers and thunderstorms (mostly thunderstorms) extends all the way from NW Alabama down across Marion and SE Walker County, across Jefferson and NE Shelby and finally into Central Talladega and Clay County.

The whole band of storms moving toward the south and southwest–but slowly. This is allowing for some very heavy rain.

It was raining buckets across NE Shelby, Central Talladega and Clay County.

Numerous lightning strikes.

The large and very strong thuinderstorm that was over NE Jefferson County and approaching Downtown Birmingham weakened a bit but still active.

After temperatures soared well into the 90s this afternoon, many areas are enjoying some rain-cooled air.

Where I am located in NE Trussville, the temperature plunged from 96 to 76 and we received 0.66 rain amount–much of that in about 20 minutes.
