Our cold front has sagged to south of Birmingham at this hour.

Some drier air is filtering in on north and northwesterly winds. The dewpoint at BHM is down to 66F, 63F at Tuscaloosa. At Muscle Shoals, it is down to 55F.

Looking at radar: a large mass of moderate to occasionally heavy rain continues across Talladega, Clay, Tallapoosa, Coosa, Chilton and Bibb Counties.

Moderate showers extend from the Columbus MS area northeastward to west of Hamilton in Marion County…this activity will continue eastward across Marion and Lamar Counties.

Heavy showers are over Pickens County and will move across the Tuscaloosa area within the hour. They will eventually reach Bibb and Shelby Counties a little later.

To the west, an area of rain over the Mississippi Delta should slide southward as well as eastward as the front sags even further to the south. It could affect areas south of Tuscaloosa and Birmingham later this morning.

Heavier rain and storms were exiting Chambers County at this hour into Georgia.

The lightning has really diminished from earlier, but some is still being observed west of Tuscaloosa and in the Bibb and Chilton County activity.

Clouds will hang tough for much of the morning across Central Alabama, but we should see some sunshine this afternoon in the I-20 corridor. Highs will be in the lower 70s.
