I feel good after getting exactly two hours sleep toward daybreak. However if one of my posts trails off ZZZZZzzzzzzz it means I fell asleep at the ole keyboard,

About 40 percent of Alabama is getting rain at 7:55. This inludes a line of showers, some heavy, that extended from Coosa County in East Central Alabama southward to near Pensacola. The line is streaming toward the NNE.

Other showers were moving out of the Tennessee Valley into Tennessee.

But to the west, numerous showers over East and North Mississippi moving NNE and some of those will edge into NW Alabama.

And further west, another area of showers over the west half of Arkansas. Moving in the opposite direction–southward. This is becuse of the circulation around that pesky upper level closed low. Those can be mean and unfriendly .

Lots of reports of (mostly minor) damage overnight. Probably the most significant was at Newbern in South Hale County where a number of homes were damaged. As time permits later this morning, we will compile and post some of the reports.

And, how about these rain amounts:

2.60 Vernon
1.89 Greystone Cove
1.50 Pinson
1.73 Black Creek
1.75 Cottondale

That is just a sample. Later this morning, we will compile a long list.

SERIOUS FLASH FLOODING
At Navarre in Santa Rosa County, NW Florida, significant flash-flooding now underway including surrounding areas of Santa Rosa County. in Coastal Alabama, a Flash Flood Warning continues for baldwin County until 9:30.
