Still quiet.

A few showers over the NW corner.

However, the atmosphere is becoming more restless. The Storm Prediction Center says that a watch is possible later this morning for most of Mississippi and a good part of Louisiana.

At 9 am, a line of thunderstorms was positioned from the west parts of both Kentucky and Tennessee southwestward across Northwest Mississippi into Louisiana. The strongest thunderstorms were east of Memphis.

A cold front will be helping these storms grow stronger. At mid-morning, it was a cold 45 degrees at Fayetteville, Arkansas–home of the Arkansas Razorbacks.

An intense low pressure area was centered over Iowa. North and NE of the low, a blizzard was raging. At the west tip of Lake Superior, the city of Duluth was virtually shut down. More about that later…

Here in Central Alabama it still looks like our strongest thunderstorms will be this afternoon through much of tonight. The entire state remains under a “slight risk”
