Still raining over most of the state.
A steady rain–just what the doctor and nurse ordered to help with our drought.
Atmosphere is rather stable so no strong thunderstorms so far and very little lightning. Will discuss that more at the end of this report.
Low hanging clouds so many of the ridges are obscured (translation: visibility drops low when you drive across the higher elevations)
I love an all-day chilly rain.
At noon some of the heaviest rain was across Alabama’s two coastal Counties–Baldwin and Mobile. There were some moderate to briefly heavy rain at various locations across the North Central counties.
Some rain amounts just before noon:
0.40 Northport (33/40 Skywatcher)
0.33 SW Lamar County (Skywatcher)
0.42 Clanton
0.32 Oak Grove
0.28 Wilsonville
SEVERE WEATHER
The Storm Prediction Center withdrew the slight risk for today from Extreme SW Alabama. The latest outline is all of Louisiana and SW Mississippi. There were no Severe Thunderstorm or Tornado Watches anywhere in the USA at noon. For tomorrow, the SPC has extended the slight risk more northward into Alabama About the south half of the state along and south of a line from about Meridian to Clanton and Lafayette. Of course, we will still watch closely tomorrow just in case the more unstable air triggers some strong thunderstorms more to the north.
