Late tonight a long line of showers and thunderstorms extended from Middle Tennessee down into NW Alabama and southward all the way to Marion in Perry County. The line of storms was located through Eastern Lauderdale, Lawrence, Eastern Franklin, Winston, Walker, Tuscaloosa, Hale and Perry Counties. The line of storms was moving generally eastward.
Well behind that line was another moderate to heavy rain area over West and SW Tennessee down into NW Mississippi and SE Arkansas. That, too, was moving toward the east.
Between now and about 11:00 p.m., the leading line of thunderstorms will be approaching Huntsville, Cullman, Birmingham and Clanton. The heaviest showers in that line of storms is from around Berry, in the boothill of Fayette County, southward through Eastern Tuscaloosa County near Vance and between Greensboro and Marion in West/Central Alabama.
At one time, the rain was coming down at 1.96 inches per hour at Coker located west of Tuscaloosa, but now the heaviest showers are east of that area.
