Four separate bands of precipitation we should mention.
1. Al 11:45 am, the easternmost band was a long very narrow line of showers from Scottsboro and Fort Payne in the NE, all the way southward to Montgomery and Opp in the south. Some spots of heavy rain in that line.
2. Second was a band of light to moderate showers from Decatur and Moulton south through Tuscaloosa County and all the way into SW Alabama
3. Another band of showers over East and NE Mississippi that will eventually affect West Alabama. All of that moving northward but the overall system was shifting slowly eastward.
4, Further west, a batch of showers was over Arkansas and those were moving south. Due to the circulation around the upper air low pressure area.
Cooler air is spilling eastward across Alabama. For example:
64 in Huntsville, west wind gusting to 25 mph
61 in Tuscaloosa with a chilly light rain
75 milder over on the east side of the state at Anniston.
