Coming out of a 20-minute internet outage, so we are trying to catch up. Between 1:45 and shortly after 2:00 p.m. we had reports of very heavy rain in Harpersville, Odenville and Springville. One of our readers was startled by such loud thunder that they jumped like they felt was 3 feet.

Radar at 2:25 p.m. indicated a number of scattered showers and thunderstorms concentrated mainly over the north/central part of the state from Fayette and Tuscaloosa Counties on the west to Shelby and St. Clair Counties on the east. Some of the heavier rain was over NE Shelby County around Vincent, Westover and Harpersville into the SE edge of Jefferson County near Mountain Brook and Vestavia Hills. Showers and formed as far north as Cullman County and there were moderate to heavy showers over SE Fayette County and along the Tuscaloosa/Walker County line. Movement is somewhat different from yesterday with today’s storms moving toward the WNW, at times almost due west.
