Strong thunderstorms continue around the Alabama countryside. Some of the biggest storms were over North Winston County, others were over West Walker County and a strong one over North Calhoun County.

The National Weather Service has issued Special Weather Statements for this list of storms:

* For Calhoun and Etowah Counties until 5:15 based on a strong storm 7 miles north of Jacksonville and moving SE creeping along at 3 mph. This means somebody is going to get a lot of rain. It was moving toward the community of Reaves and Jacksonville.

* For Tuscaloosa and Walker Counties until 5:00 p.m. based on a strong storm 17 miles SW of Cordova and moving SE ever so slowly at 3 mph. (You can walk faster than that.) It will move toward the communities of Boley Springs and The Wye. Winds up to 45 are likely.

* South Franklin and Lawrence Counties until 5:00 p.m. based on strong storms along a line from Speake to Phil Campbell moving south at 10. The storms were moving toward Duketon, Phil Campbell and the Bankhead National Forest including the Sipsey Wilderness.

BIRMINGHAM METRO AREA
Little or no action in Jefferson, St. Clair and Blount Conties at this time. A fairly strong storm continues over North Shelby County along and east of I-65 and a small, but strong, storm over the SE corner of Bibb County. All of those storms are lolly-gagging around as if they are confused on which way they want to go.
