Things have calmed down quite a bit tonight across Alabama.

There is a severe thunderstorm warning currently for Autauga County. It is for a strong storm that has intensified near an inflection point, or kink, in the long squall line.

That line of storms extends from Northwest Georgia to west of Anniston to east of Clanton then to near Prattville.

Some of the strongest cells were approaching Gantt’s Quarry and southwest of Weaver in Calhoun county.

Light to moderate showers continue across parts of Shelby and Jefferson counties.

Some light rain is showing up over eastern Mississippi. This light rain will move into western Alabama shortly.

The rest of the night should be fairly quiet. Showers will be possible in the morning, diminishing by afternoon with variable clouds. Saturday night should be mainly dry, as should Sunday.

Rain chances will go back up to start the week as the front comes back northward.
