Overall, thunderstorm activity has diminished early this evening, but there were still some strong storms producing locally heavy rain over East-Central and Central Alabama. Some of those stronger storms were in Clay, Randolph, Macon, Bullock, Butler and Chilton Counties. The storms in Chilton County have weakened a lot and some other showers were forming along an outflow boundary over SE Bibb and Eastern Perry Counties. The outflow was moving west.
In North Alabama, the heavy showers near Gadsden have diminished greatly and also the storms in extreme North Alabama in Morgan and Madison Counties.
INTERESTING EVENT IN JEMISON
Justin Gentry is the ABC 33/40 skywatcher at Jemison in North Chilton County. Early this evening, an outflow boundary triggered a small thunderstorm out ahead of some others right over the town of Jemison. It remained a small storm throughout, but it dumped exactly 1 inch of rain on Jemison, as it remained stationary over Jemison for nearly an hour. That storm dropped his high temperature from 96 to 74. The June total in Jemison is now 2.24 inches.
In Gadsden, at the 33/40 skycam, overlooking the city the rain amounted to 0.69 of an inch.
Later this evening we will post some other rain amounts from today’s storms.
