It is almost a story of two different worlds across Alabama this morning. The NW half of the state (actuallly more like two-thirds) is dry and becoming sunny, while the rest of SE Alabama continues wet with more showers and thunderstorms moving from SW to NE like they are on a train track. A Flash Flood Watch continues for much of that area. The showers and storms are coming ashore near Mobile and tracking NE until they leave the state in the Phenix City/Columbus, Georgia area. Parts of SE Alabama will get more than 3 inches of additional rain in the next 24 hours, while the rest of the state remains generally dry.

THREE CHEERS FOR NASHVILLE
That city has gone through one of the worst flash flood events in my memory. (I cannot remember when the big Louisville flood event was–either last year or two years ago.) There is no rain anywhere near Nashville this morning. In fact, the nearest is the rain still going on in Georgia and SE Alabama and no threat to Nashville. It must be great news that the NWS official forecast from Nashville does not mention any additional rain until next Friday
