Things are moving more rapidly now and so far the second cluster of storms has not been severe. At 2:15, the main thunderstorms had moved over into East/Central Alabama near Talladega southward and to the east part of Coosa County east of Rockford.

Besides of the main line, there were some other individual strong storms near Lafayette in Chambers County close to the Georgia border. We can say goodbye to those fairly quickly.

In the Birmingham metro area, counting Jefferson, Shelby and even Chilton Counties, there is some thunder and lightning but no real strong storm. Up in NE Alabama, some moderate showers around Guntersville, Scottsboro and Ft. Payne. Most of the heavier showers have now moved east of Jasper, Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Centreville and Marion.

Lightning activity has decreased, but the main lightning activity is with the main cluster in Central Alabama. The most encouraging thing about all this is the fact that no Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued since 10:04 p.m. and that was from the NWS in Jackson.

I think we can rest easy now for the rest of the night. Good to have some of you all-nighters staying up with me. I think by 3:00 a.m. or so we can all hit the sack.
