The National Weather Service in Birmingham continues a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 7:45 p.m. for North Pickens and South Lamar Counties adjacent to the Mississippi border. This includes the cities of Millport and Reform. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning continues for the rest of Lamar County until 7:30.
This was based on a severe thunderstorm 9 miles east of Columbus, Mississippi and moving east at 40 mph. Columbus Air Force Base recently reported large hail the size of quarters. The weather station at Columbus Air Force Base reported a wind gust of 49 mph at 6:34 p.m.
Thunderstorms will be moving into Fayette County shortly and other thunderstorms were over the NW corner of the state. Lightning is extremely active in all of these storms.
