At 2:30, radar indicated a large mass of showers and thunderstorms over South Alabama and southern Mississippi. The northern edge of this activity was over southern Chilton County, edging north and eastward toward Clanton. The activity will spread northeastward into Coosa and Tallapoosa Counties.
A mass of light to moderate showers is over the northeastern quarter of Alabama. This actviity is moving east.
Rainfall amounts across Central Alabama have been generally light, with most locations picking up a quarter of an inch or less. Parts of PIckens, Greene and Sumter Counties picked one half inch or more. Heavier amounts are over South Central Alabama from Dallas, Autauga, Emore, Tallapoosa and Chambers Counties where isolated spots have picked up closer to two inches.
Skies are cloudy across the area. Temperatures across Central Alabama are in the lower 70s.
Our big upper low is spinning up over the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The cold front has stalled in its forward progress to our west and a low pressure center has developed over the western Gulf. The front will hold back to our west waiting on a strong upper level disturbance that will give the front the impetus it needs to move through overnight Tuesday.
We will have scattered strong storms tomorrow afternoon and again on Tuersday afternoon, with a better chance of showers and storms late Tuesday night as the front approaches.
We will then experience a change to cooler across the area.
